Chiller 2025

Chiller 24 2025 Just Around The Corner

The event that I prize more than any other is about to kick off once again this weekend on 8th and 9th November.  For once the weather is playing the game with mild temperatures, minimum amounts of rain and light winds expected.  The first two years had extreme weather but then again they were held in Feb.  In others we’ve had torrential rain (pretty standard fare) and even a lightning storm.  So hopefully without jinxing it, a calm weekend will make for some good racing.

We’ve had some info from our timing people.  There will be a live link available here:

https://my.raceresult.com/370510

Please ignore the current data if you are looking at this prior to the race – it’s just us testing.  Real data will be there from registration/race start.

Some points to note:

  • Live data will update approximately 30 seconds after on the ground.  So people at home will get a fairly accurate picture.
  • Participants column.  It’s just a list of all people taking part.
  • Live column. This will show the latest lap completions.  The last lap completed will always be at the top.
  • Results column.  These are the race results.  There is a drop down at the top to switch between solos, pairs and quads.

A few other items based on the timing setup.

  • The race will start in the system at 10am.  If for any reason we delay the start then the clock will still start regardless and the first laps will have that extra time added.  Subsequent laps will be as usual.
  • The timing point where laps are completed will be placed on the final track back into the campsite.  Once through here the lap is completed and the next one begins.
  • Do not walk or cycle through the timing point if not racing.  It will be sufficiently far away from the HQ to not pick you up.
  • To have a successful lap recorded a rider must have gone through the midway trigger point.  This is a timing beacon on the way to the highest point that stops people from taking an obvious shortcut.  If you take that shortcut the lap doesn’t count, simple.  It will however be recorded in the background for any contested laps with evidence.
  • Seems obvious but if you forget to go out with a timing device then no lap recorded.  Pairs and quads, don’t forget to pass the wristband on.
  • Laps after the allotted 24 hours do not count.
  • Ranking is based on number of laps and overall time.
  • There will be a screen available on site in the HQ area.

You’ll be glad to hear that numbers have arrived late last night.  The original supplier of correct cycling boards dropped us in it at the last second so we have had to scramble around for waterproof running style numbers.  It’s really just to identify you so please just have it on display somewhere on your bike, ideally the front.

Maddie and Jake will be operating the coffee/pizza trailer to provide you with some tasty motivation.  They do all kinds of hot drinks, snacks and wood fired pizzas.  Cash or card accepted and they will be operational from 7am Saturday until late Saturday night, have a snooze when it goes quiet and then up and running for the morning session through to midday.

The trailer and the timing system will be using the starlink.  Later on in the afternoon of the Saturday we’ll be bringing a second Starlink and we’ll have this set up so you can connect to wifi on site.

Other than that it’s down to you to get out there and ride.  If we can help in any way then we’ll try our best.  We hope you enjoy it and get the most out of the weekend.
