Shadowlands Race Series Standings – Race 4

Last nights Lewis Burn Run was race four of the Shadowlands Winter Trail Series and proved to be every bit as fast and competitive as predicted.  With big points on offer it was time for people to try and reinforce their standings or even try and be tactical given the gaps involved.  With two races still to go the rankings are lining up nicely.  Remember categories are based on runners age at the first event on 27th December.  So for the likes of Graham Malthouse he won last nights MV40 as he’s recently turned 40 but his category for the series is still overall only.  A correction was made for Ben Sandall who was in with two different names after turning up for race 2 on the night – corrected and combined now.

Rachel’s clean sweep of the races so far sees her with maximum points but still not clear of the pack with two races to go.  An injury or a clash of calendar would be enough for Emma Leigh to dramatically close the gap.  Eden Isabella Huntley and Georgia Campbell have amassed points by gritty runs and consistent performances.  I’d keep an eye on Laura in fourth though as she’s placed high on all the races she’s done so far.

Emma is sitting second overall but in her own category continues to stretch her lead.  Now 140 points clear of Helen Clark in second Emma would be wise to target top FV40 at the Lonesome Pine Run.  This would make her unreachable before having to compete against a much bigger field at the Duergar Run.  Helen Clark keeps picking up points and proves that consistency is key.  Claire Fairbairn is super quick in third and if she turns up for both remaining races could snatch second – this would largely depend on the a strong run at the Duergar Run and hoping to gap Helen in the crowd.  All to play for.

Amazingly there are no FV50 runners who have turned up for two races which means this category is wide open.  Any one of those ladies about just need to turn up and they’ll take the lead in the series.

FV60

Carol Cervenak 130

A strong run at the Winter Wipeout has Carol sitting pretty.

This has been a battle royale from the start as Andrew and Graham have traded wins in all races so far.  Graham only sits in third because he missed a race and Andrew erm….ran away with it.  Andrew Dancer from Peebles has placed in the top 3 every single week so he’s only 40 points off Armin at the top.  It’s so tight that any little mishap and places will be traded very quickly.  Gavin Francis, Benjamin Sandall (points corrected and combined now) and Karl Smith are all within striking distance and chomping at the heels of those in third place.

Andrew Dancer sits atop of the MV50 category by taking top spot (series wise) in every race in MV40 so far – remember it goes off 27th Dec age.  Gavin Francis is another who keeps getting his body out there and has amassed points to sit in second whereas Scott Dewhurst has an 80 point gap over fourth.

Fair play to Spencer Booth.  The ex military man has had the discipline to turn up every single race and get the job done.  He’s now 336 points ahead of any runner and could stop now and still take the series title. Which weirdly means that absolutely any of the other MV50 runners could grab second and third.

MV60

Tony Brown 380
Richard Bewell 130
Derek Esson 120
Dudley Roberts 120
Stephen Cowell 115
Russell Pilling 110
Chris Redfern 105

Tony clocked on to the series idea at the Osprey Run and has quickly piled on the points to be 250 points further on than the rest.  One more finish sees top spot secure.  Second and third are wide open.

MV70

Martin Riall 130

Winter Wipeout finisher Martin rolled back the years to get the job done and rightly deserves that top spot.
