There is ample parking available within walking distance of the castle. This can be found be driving to the castle and then following the parking signs. This is a pay and display car park owned by the Forestry and at the time of writing it was £2.
Registration takes place within Kielder castle. Here you will be given your timing device, number and directions for where to put your bike and kit in transition area.
We do not offer camping for this event and the campsite will be closed for the winter. However, those of you in vans/motorhomes (or even cars if you’re mad) can stay in the castle car park within a stones throw of the event for a fee to the Forestry. The fee was £15 at the time of writing. There is also a toilet within walking distance.
There are public toilets available right across the road from Kielder castle.
There is a catering truck situated at the castle but it’s usually closed in the winter. We hope to either get that open or bring our own.
Please bring your own water supply. There are water sources that can be made available but this are highly prone to freezing in the winter so we make no guarantees. You are best off bringing your own.
The all important transition will be achieved by going around the circumference of the castle in a clockwise direction. Bike will be placed on the left hand side of the castle on racking.
We will have staff in the area at all times

If you have entered a winter duathlon then chances are we do not need to tell you what to wear. Fit yourself out with kit that is appropriate to the conditions.
We do insist that you have a fully functioning mountain bike (or gravel) and a helmet. You will be disqualified if you do not have either.
We suggest having the following items:
If you want to drop out then you will have plenty of opportunity to do this whilst going through transition. Alternatively if you have trouble out on course speak to a marshal and we’ll come and collect you.
We will gave a medical team on site. If this team treat you then they need to fill out some paperwork so please allow them to do so. We strongly recommend that you follow their advice if it is given. If a rider is prone on the course then diversions may be put into place, the race may be paused or the race may be abandoned.
