North Star Ultra: Newcastleton End Point Confirmed

We’re delighted to say that Newcastleton Bunkhouse is the turnaround point for the West/Newcastleton leg of the North Star Ultra.  This is the longest leg of those on offer and takes runners over the well trodden Bloodybush route past the Border Stone and then traverses to the town of Newcastleton.  The Bunkhouse can be found on the main road and is easily accessible with plentiful parking in the main square nearby.

Here you can make use of the facilities where there is a full kitchen and a bathroom so people can get themselves sorted out with nutrition and planning before attempting the return journey.  Given that the ultra is in June there is an option of some lovely outdoor picnic tables for your stop.  It’s funny that the tactic of “staying outside” is one we see often deployed at the Cheviot Goat with the thinking that warmth and comfort are easy ways to end a race.

As with other legs the option is there for any support team members to arrive in advance and prepare anything needed.  The tracking system will give them plenty of opportunity to predict travel time and allow for around 45 minutes by car to work your way into Scotland and along the B6357.  Many thanks to the good people of the bunkhouse for allowing us to use this as our base for the weekend.
