Each lap is around 7 miles long and you need to complete as many as you can in a 24 hour period. The course and the amount of climbing can change depending on harvesting, closures, weather etc so don’t get a set figure in your mind but it’s roughly 7 miles to 8 miles.
Newcastleton is a new location so we are having to factor in the site hire and a fee for each vehicle on site. We’ve tried to make this impact the event as little as possible.
Entries open 1st Dec 2023. Entry includes the £10 vehicle fee from the site.
Solo = £90
Pairs = £160 per team = £80 per rider
Quads = £300 per team = £75 per rider
For this every single rider gets on the site, chip timing, full safety cover, professional comms cover, toilets, bins, music and a massive range of prizes to go for. A lot of you will know the history of the event and it doesn’t go for the razmatazz and big numbers. It’s down to earth, friendly racing with a nice group of people. It’s never had a big budget and doesn’t have any sponsors so we try to keep costs as low as possible (24hr events are very expensive to organise!). We hope you appreciate this approach and as this is a new location we’re limited entries to 100 teams, be that solo, pair or quad. Basically 100 vehicle on site with the one vehicle per team rule. If the spacing goes well and we can manage more numbers in the future then we’ll adjust it.
You have 14 days from the date of purchase where you can get a full refund. Following that we are very clear upon sign up – no refunds or deferrals. You are welcome to sell your place, switch riders etc. You can edit your own entry up until a week prior to the event.
We repeat, every single entry gets on to the site. Every single standard entry gets you on the site for 2 nights (Fri and Sat) and you are ready to go. 1 vehicle per team.

Options are:
2 person bunk room w shared bathroom and kitchen £60 per room
4 person bunk room w shared bathroom and kitchen £110 per room
1 bed in a shared bunkroom, with shared bathroom and kitchen = £30pp
3 bedroom (6 people) lodge with private kitchen/bathroom £250 for the lodge
2 bedroom (4 people)) lodge with private kitchen/ bathroom £200 for the lodge
2 bedroom (4 people) lodge with private kitchen/ bathroom £200 for the lodge

Site opens 4pm Friday.
Registration times: 6pm til 9pm Friday night and 8am til 10am on Saturday morning.
Race start: 11am Saturday.
Race finishes 11am Sunday. No laps count after this.
Presentation midday Sunday assuming the race started on time.
You must leave the site on Sunday as the staff will need to clean the lodges and facilities before any following bookings.
Are generators allowed? Not sure but I’ll find out and add info here when I know the answer.
Every team person gets on to the site. There is a restriction of one vehicle per team. Why? Firstly there is a space issue so we are limiting overall numbers at the event this time round. Next up we have to pay a fee for each vehicle on site. There will be an overflow car ark for additional vehicles. If you are entered at a pair or quad then we’d suggest that you meet up in a car park to get sorted before bringing your single team vehicle on to the site. Once the first vehicle from any team is on site, all other vehicles from the same team will be turned around.

We’re nestled away in the trees but not a million miles away from the town of Newcastleton. Noise will need to be kept to a minimum from 11pm Sat night until 8am Sunday morning.
There is fresh water available, clean toilets and bins for rubbish.
The location of the site is given at the top of the page. Entry will be managed by our own staff. There will be a list of all teams. Sorry to repeat ourselves but ONE VEHICLE PER TEAM on the site so we can ensure we have enough space for all concerned. You can arrive Friday night after 4pm or Saturday morning until 9am.
Those who have booked a lodge will need to go to the site reception and we advise you get there early as your lodge access may well become blocked by other vehicles if you leave it late. Book a lodge, get there early.
If you are arriving in a group, be it a team or friends, if you want to be together then get organised before you come on to the site. We’ll ignore people trying to reserve places for friends as we will need to use every available spot on the site.
Once all people are on site the gate to the site will be closed from around 10:30am. No vehicles will be allowed on or off the campsite during the race.
Registration will take place in the marquee on site. We will have registration available from 6pm until 9pm on Friday and then 8am til 10am on Saturday. Here you will receive an event number and a timing chip.
There are a number of timing beacons out on course which you must pass through for a full lap to register. They will typically be found in the far off locations of the course.
Teams need to ensure that two riders are not out on the course at the same time. Transition from one rider to another can be done within your own pit area when two riders are side by side. We have timing maps in and out of the lap so any anomalies will be checked. A baton will need to be handed over from one rider to another. This can be done anywhere on the course but riders must re-enter the course at the same point the last rider exited.
Every rider must complete laps in darkness with appropriate lights. Any rider found on course in darkness without using lights will be stopped and taken back to the campsite to given a fair chance to get sorted. If they go out again without lights then it will result in a disqualification.
You can drop out any time you like. Don’t be too hasty to hand back in your timing chip if it’s the middle of the night. Sleep a few hours and see how you feel then. If you do feel it’s final then enjoy the spectating as you’ll be on the site until the race is finished.
We will gave a medical team on site. If this team treat you then they need to fill out some paperwork so please allow them to do so. We strongly recommend that you follow their advice if it is given. If a rider is prone on the course then diversions may be put into place, the race may be paused or the race may be abandoned. The medical team may ask you to wear a face mask while close for treatment.
There are a number of shops in Newcastleton where you can grab supplies before you come on site. I think it’s a Spar and it’s a town in the middle of nowhere so don’t expect it to be open all night. We’re very hopeful about having a own pizza/coffee trailer on site for when you need that extra kick.
